While Pokemon logos never really deviate much in the west, in Japan they are a lot more dynamic and contain little details about the game. Pokemon X & Y’s logo for instance contains the double helix mega evolution symbol that played a major role in the game.
The upcoming Pokemon games, Sun & Moon, seem to be no different as they have a diamond shaped jewel inside the logo. Something RogersBase brought to attention on Twitter is that these jewels are similar to the Burst Hearts in the Pokemon manga.
Burst Hearts are from the spin-off Pokemon manga, “ReBurst”. They allow a trainer to preform a “Burst” to combine themselves with a Pokemon to gain their powers and strength.
It’s possible that some form of this could be used as a new mechanic in Pokemon Sun & Moon. Something similar to this concept has already appeared in the Pokemon anime, Ash-Greninja.
Ash-Greninja shares many of the same ideas as Burst Hearts but the main difference being that a jewel was not required to activate the transformation. Ash and Greninja’s close bond was all that needed for the form to be fully achieved.
This is of course all speculation at this point but it’s not out of the question whether the jewels in the logo will have some significance. With the games coming out this holiday season, it won’t be terribly long before we find out for sure.
